How Gavin McKenna Compares to Connor Bedard & Macklin Celebrini

All the chatter I’ve seen about Gavin McKenna got me curious to see how he compares to Connor Bedard and Macklin Celebrini when they were 16. McKenna had 97 points (34 G 63 A) in 61 games for Medicine Hat in the WHL this season, for a 1.59 points per game average. Bedard had 100 points (51 G 49 A) in 62 games for Regina, for a 1.61 PPG average. Celebrini had 86 points (46 G 40 A) in 50 games for Chicago in the USHL, a 1.72 PPG average. It could be argued that McKenna’s assist total makes him a bit better playmaker than Bedard at the same stage of their careers, although he may have had more talent surrounding him as his team enjoyed more regular season success. It’s more difficult to compare him to Celebrini due to their competing in different leagues, although Celebrini has averaged 1.73 PPG for Frozen Four bound Boston University, leading an elite team in scoring (64 points) by a wide margin.
