Listed below are top prospects switching organizations this season via trade, and appear here beneath their current organization. Each prospect listed was considered a top 10 prospect with their former organization, or in my opinion will be in that category soon. An example of the latter is Swedish D-man Victor Soderstrom. He was an Arizona 1st rounder in 2019 and came to North America shortly after, but returned to Sweden as he didn’t feel his NHL path would be through Arizona/Utah. Given his excellent performance in the SHL this season, it appears he will be back shortly. Attached is an article providing further details on the young man.
Also, I’ve added some players who are not yet full-time NHL players, yet are no longer considered by some as being a prospect. In most cases, this is because they have played too many NHL games to be classified as rookies (they have played either (1) more than 25 NHL games in any one previous season, or (2) have played in six or more NHL games in each of any two preceding seasons). A perfect example of this is former Columbus/current Minnesota product David Jiricek (included below with other Wild prospects). Because he already has played in 59 NHL games, Jiricek will not be classified as a rookie when called up from Iowa, and thus isn’t listed by central scouting as a top prospect.
