I have attached an article by The Hockey Writers regarding the most underrated prospects in the OHL. The name that stuck out to me was Oshawa winger Filip Ekberg. It is no secret that his playing time in Oshawa in 2024-25 was sparing, to say the least. Despite his lack of playing time, Ekberg still managed to put up 45 points ion 53 regular season games. Also, he impressed greatly at this year’s U18 WJC in Texas. Playing for Team Sweden, Ekberg led the tournament in scoring with 18 points (10G 8A) on his way to being named the tournament’s MVP. He received this award despite the Swedes finishing in a runner-up position to Team Canada.
Despite receiving this honor, Ekberg is listed by central scouting as the 178th-ranked NA skater. It remains to be seen whether his head-turning performance at this recent international event will persuade teams to pick him prior to his currently predicted position.
