Attached is an article by The Hockey News discussing Colorado’s prospects to watch this season. The player who caught my attention is D-man prospect Mikhail Gulyayev, who currently plays for Avangard Omsk in the KHL.
Although standing only 5’11,” Gulyayev was an Avalanche first round pick in 2023 due to his exceptional offensive capabilities. (To that end, Gulyayev has even lined up as a forward several times this season.) However, his offensive production continues to lag behind his ability. He has a mere 2 assists in 11 games so far this season, after managing 15 points in all of 2024-25. He just turned 20 years old though, and presumably is in the process of developing that aspect of his game.
NHL Central Scouting lists Gulyayev as the Avs #1 prospect. He is expected to make his NHL debut next season.
