10/9/25: Lucrative NHL Contract Extensions Owing to Salary Cap Increase

In addition to the Jack Roslovic/Edmonton signing (one year at $1.5 million), Vegas locked up forward Jack Eichel on an 8-year extension. Eichel’s extension carries a $13.5 million annual cap hit. Winnipeg’s Kyle Connor also received an 8-year extension, with an AAV of $12 million. The rash of long-term, lucrative deals no doubt is related to the significant salary cap increase the next two seasons, giving teams the financial ability to lock up their cornerstone stars. The cap has been increased to $95.5 million for 2025-26, up from $88 million last season. In 2026-27, the cap will be further increased to $104 million.
