Team CHL has appointed its coaching staff for the upcoming CHL USA Prospects Challenge, being held in Alberta late next month. Medicine Hat’s Willie Desjardins will serve as head coach. The bench bosses of the Brantford Bulldogs and Drummondville Voltigeurs, Jay McKee & Sylvain Favreau, will fill the role of assistant coaches. These hirings cover each of the CHL’s three major junior leagues. Defending WHL champion Medicine Hat occupies second place in its division with a record of 7-3. McKee’s Bulldogs are unbeaten in regulation through ten games, winning eight of those contests. Favreau has guided a youthful Voltigeurs’ roster to a .500 record thus far this season.
USA will send its National Team Development U18 team to compete in the two-game event, led by head coach Nick Fohr. Thus far, Fohr has led his squad to a record of 4-7-3. Three of these losses are to collegiate opponents, including defending national champion Western Michigan.
