10/20/25: NY Isles’ D-Man Matthew Schaefer Off to Record-Setting Start to Career

Matthew Schaefer has begun his NHL career with a 5-game point streak (1G 4A), and in the process has cemented his place in league history. Schaefer is the first 18 year old D-man in history to achieve that mark, and has the second-longest streak by a D-man to begin his career. He sits behind Marek Zidlicky and his six-game streak in the 2003-04 season. Schaefer has a chance to tie Zidlicky tomorrow when the Isles host San Jose at 7:00 pm EDT.
