Attached is Team Sweden’s 26-man preliminary roster for the 2026 WJC. The Swedes must cut one player from this roster prior to the tournament’s commencement in order to meet the 25-player maximum.
Four 2026 draft-eligible players occupy Sweden’s roster spots, being three forwards and one d-man. The top prospect among these players is forward Ivar Stenberg, arguably Europe’s top prospect in the upcoming draft. Speaking of high-end prospects on this roster, joining him are three first-round picks in 2025, and three additional second-rounders from that draft class. Perhaps the most recognizable name among those players is third overall pick Anton Frondell (CHI).
Also, set to commence tomorrow in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec is the World Junior A Challenge. The participants at this tournament, which serves as a prelude to many of these players’ participating in the WJC the following season, are the United States, Sweden, and two Canadian teams divided by East and West. Above-mentioned Swedes Stenberg and Frondell played in this tournament last season.
