Finnish forward Oscar Hemming has agreed to compete for Boston College for the remainder of 2025-26 and beyond. Also, Latvian forward Olivers Murnieks is committed to play for Boston College in 2027-28. Both 17 year olds are eligible for the 2026 NHL draft.
Hemming, a projected first-round pick, has joined the Eagles for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, garnering two assists in two games thus far in his collegiate career. Hemming was set to compete in the British Columbia Hockey League upon severing ties with his Finnish junior team. He later changed course when the IIHF threatened to compromise his aspirations to one day play in the world juniors should he play junior hockey for any team except his Finnish club. Therefore, this appears to be a belated Christmas present for the Eagles.
Murnieks currently competes for Saint John in the QMJHL, and will join BC upon completion of his junior career. A projected 2nd-round pick in this year’s draft, Murnieks tallied 4 points (1G 3A) in 5 games for Latvia at the 2026 World Junior Championship.
