2/5/26: NYR Trades Panarin to LAK

Yesterday, the New York Rangers traded forward Artemi Panarin to Los Angeles in exchange for forward prospect Liam Greentree, a conditional 2026 3rd round draft pick, and a conditional 2028 4th round pick. The transfer of the 2026 pick is set, and will convert to a 2026 2nd round pick if the Kings win a playoff series. If the Kings win two series, then the Rangers will receive an additional 2028 4th round pick. Also, at the time of the trade Panarin signed a two-year, $22 million extension to begin in 2026-27. The Rangers agreed to retain 50% of Panarin’s 2025-26 salary, thus making LA’s cap hit $5.8 million for this season.

The link below is to an article I prepared recently, in which I recite each of the recent trades occurring prior to the February 4 Olympic roster freeze. The list of trades begins with the deal sending former Calgary d-man Rasmus Andersson to Vegas in exchange for d-man Zach Whitecloud and draft picks. It had been rumored for the past year that Calgary would deal Andersson before he hit free agency this summer (VGK has yet to sign him to an extension).
