2/10/26: Boston College Wins Beanpot Behind Bruins’ Prospect Hagens’ MVP Effort

Boston College is the 2026 champion of the Beanpot Tournament, the annual college hockey event held in the Boston area. The Eagles’ 6-2 victory over arch rival Boston University represents the first time it has won the tournament in 10 years. In the process, it improved to the 12th-rated NCAA team in college hockey’s postseason rankings (16 teams in the country are in the postseason field, with 6 automatic bids & 10 at-large bids). Meanwhile, Boston University slipped to #29 in those rankings, and most likely must win the Hockey East postseason tournament for an automatic bid to the NCAA tourney.

A pair of Boston Bruins’ forward prospects shined in the Beanpot. James Hagens (2025 1st round, 7th overall) was named the tournament’s most valuable player with 5 points (2G 3A) in the two-game set. Also, Dean Letourneau (2024 1st round, 25th overall) chipped in two goals. Hagens leads BC with 31 points (15G 16A), while Letourneau is the Eagles’ goals leader (16).

Also, Harvard University beat Northeastern University 4-1 yesterday afternoon in the Beanpot’s consolation final.
