3/4/26: Seattle Extends Meyers & Winterton; Kraken Prospects Evers & Miettinen Thriving in WHL

Seattle recently inked two players to contract extensions, and one player to an entry-level contract. On Feb. 24, Kraken forwards Ben Meyers (undrafted free agent signed by COL in 2022) and Ryan Winterton (2021 3rd round, 67th overall) each signed two-year extensions set to begin in 2026-27. Meyers’ extension has an average annual value of $1 million, while Winterton’s has an AAV of $1.125 million. Meyers primarily has filled the role of fourth-line center this season, while Winterton has been deployed throughout the lineup.

Seattle also signed WHL forward Ryden Evers (undrafted free agent) to a three-year, entry-level contract on March 1, carrying an average annual value of $1.075 million beginning in 2026-27. Evers has enjoyed a very productive campaign for Penticton, totaling 69 points (31G 38A) in 60 games thus far. He is projected to join Coachella Valley in 2026-27.

Another Kraken prospect in the WHL who signed an ELC earlier this season is forward Julius Miettinen (2024 2nd round, 40th overall). The Helsinki native has power forward size (6’4″ 207 LBS.), and sits at 70 points (30G 40A) in 45 games for Everett this season. He is projected to turn professional next season, and most likely will begin the season in Coachella Valley.
