OLIVER MOORE (#6 NORTH AMERICAN SKATER) VS. OTTO STENBERG (#6 EUROPEAN SKATER) PLAYER COMPARISON

Minnesota native Oliver Moore has 62 points so far this season (26 goals, 36 assists) and is a +34 for the U18 USNTDP. At the 5 Nations Tournament in November, he garnered 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists), and had a rating of +4.

Swede Otto Stenberg routinely has been identified this season as a top European prospect. He tallied 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 29 games for Frolunda’s U20 team earlier this season, and has 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) in 23 SHL contests, with a rating of -1. Internationally, he recorded 9 points (5 goals, 4 assists) in 5 games at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup this past summer, as well as 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) at a disappointing 2023 World Junior A Challenge.

Oliver Moore has my vote on this one. His explosive speed coupled with the ability to make plays while in high gear make him a potential top 10 pick. The jury is still out somewhat on Stenberg’s ceiling. Although numerous mock drafts list him as a mid to late first-rounder, there are others who project Stenberg lasting until round two.
