Fastest-Rising WHL 2025 NHL Draft Prospects: 12/11/24

Attached is a recent WHL-specific article regarding valuations of both draft eligible and post-draft prospects. The two players grabbing my attention were a pair of draft eligibles, Everett’s Carter Bear and Moose Jaw’s Lynden Lakovic.

Bear is a B-rated prospect, but in many draft rankings has worked his way into first-round status (the highest I have seen is #22 overall on Craig Button’s list). The fact that he is soon to be in Elite Prospect’s top 10 speaks volumes about his continued rise through the ranks.

With respect to Lakovic, in watching the CHL USA Prospects Challenge I felt he was among the most NHL-ready prospects given his size, speed, and skill set. Already an A-rated prospect, this article points out that there was some question in the past about his willingness to engage physically. Clearly that is no longer the case.
