5/14/25: Recent Trade Rumors Involving Calgary (Rasmus Andersson) Could Have Great Impact on 2025 NHL Draft

Attached is an article regarding the potential trade of Flames D-man Rasmus Andersson prior to his contract expiring at the end of next season. Despite Calgary’s 16th pick belonging to Montreal via a trade occurring in 2022, the Flames still have two first round picks at 18 and 22.

According to an article in Elite Prospects by NHL columnist Ryan Lambert, a right-shot D-man is high on Montreal’s wish list. As Andersson is a right-shot D-man, does that open the door for Calgary to move him to Montreal in exchange for a return of its pick? Or is there another deal to be made? It remains unseen at this point, as I have seen no reports since a possibility of an Andersson trade was first published.
