Recently, Dallas traded top-six forward Mason Marchment to Seattle in exchange for the Krakens’ fourth round pick in 2025 and third round pick in 2026. Marchment tallied 47 points (22G 25A) in 62 games for the Stars this past season, his second consecutive 22-goal campaign. Following up this trade, the Kraken also sent left-shot wing Andre Burakovsky (10G 27A in 79 games in 2024-25) to Chicago, and received center Joe Veleno in return. This clears significant cap space for the Kraken ($5.5M cap hit for Burakovsky versus $2.275M for Veleno), and rumor is they will not hesitate to spend it this summer to further improve their roster.
This is just the beginning of frenzied trade activity expected to occur surrounding the draft. Word is that Chicago and Utah are both open to moving their third and fourth picks, respectively, so stay tuned.
