Winger Justin Carbonneau, the 19th overall pick this year, had two goals upon his return to his Blainville-Boisbriand squad in the QMJHL. This comes following a very successful stint at the Blues’ main camp. He made such a positive impression with the Blues that many were clamoring for him to stay with the big club. Those same people likewise are opposed to his return to junior hockey for fear it will hinder his development. A player of Carbonneau’s ability would be the perfect candidate to join the AHL, except that the rule change permitting the big club to add one CHL player to its AHL affiliate’s roster will not kick in until next season. If this fall is any indication, Carbonneau will be in St. Louis next season, and will not be affected by this change.
