Philadelphia has acquired D-man Christian Kyrou (50th pick in 2022) from Dallas in exchange for winger Samu Tuomaala (46th pick in 2021). Despite each player’s considerable skill, neither has any NHL experience to this point.
An offensive D-man who enjoyed a nearly point-per-game career in the OHL, the 22-year-old Kyrou had 38 points (12G 26A) in 93 games for the AHL’s Texas Stars. A speedy winger with an elite shot but plagued with injuries last season, the soon-to-be 23-year-old Tuomaala managed 75 points (26G 49A) in 115 AHL contests with Lehigh Valley.
