NHL players in the Olympics are making their presence felt in countries around the globe, making this a most interesting event through name recognition. This was most readily seen through the contest last night featuring Germany and Denmark. The Germans were 3-1 victors by way of a pair of Tim Stutzle (OTT) goals, a tally by Edmonton star forward Leon Draisaitl (who also assisted on one of Stuzle’s goals), and a 37-save effort by Seattle’s Philipp Grubauer. The lone goal Grubauer surrendered was to Kraken teammate Oscar Fisker-Molgaard.
Also, a surprising Slovakian team is led by Montreal’s Juraj Slafkovsky and St. Louis’s Dalibor Dvorsky. Slafkovsky and Dvorsky have 4 points (2G 2A) and 3 points (1G 2A), respectively, for the Slovaks. Slovakia is 2-0 thus far, and sits atop the standings in Group B (SVK, FIN, SWE & ITA).
