As expected, there was a fair amount of activity at today’s NHL trade deadline. Buffalo made two nice acquisitions yesterday & today, bringing in forward Sam Carrick from the New York Rangers and d-man Logan Stanley from Winnipeg. However, the Sabres’ efforts in landing St. Louis d-man Colton Parayko were thwarted when he exercised his no-trade clause. A stalwart on the Blues’ blueline for the past 11 seasons, Parayko is in the fourth season of an 8-year contract worth $52 million. In addition to shipping off Parayko’s salary, the Blues were set to receive top d-man prospect Radim Mrtka (2025 1st round, 9th overall) of the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds, and a first-round pick.
There is some speculation Parayko will approve this deal this summer, although that is an unknown at this point. Currently, he is dealing with back spasms, and is listed as day-to-day.
