3/17/26: Junior Team From Top Feeder League to OHL & NHL Finishes with Pointless Record

The Sarnia Legionnaires, members of the Jr. B Greater Ontario Hockey League (GOHL), completed the 2025-26 season with a record of 0-50. This makes them the only Canadian Jr. B team in history to fail to register a point. On the flip side of this was the Cambridge Redhawks, who were the GOHL’s best team in the regular season with a mark of 45-5-0.

The GOHL is a league boasting numerous alumni who went on to compete at higher levels. In fact, it is routinely ranked as the best junior B league in the country. As such, it is the official partner of the OHL, and receives many OHL draft picks who develop into major junior players. Sixteen GOHL alumni, all of whom now compete in the OHL, were named to NHL Central Scouting’s mid-term rankings. This follows up the 2025 draft, which saw 9 alumni selected.

While the OHL has partnered with the GOHL and not any one team, it is not helpful for the perceived development of its future players to be part of such a losing program. This is especially true in light of the junior A leagues across Ontario who would like to replace the GOHL as the OHL’s go-to development league. As a former Legionnaires’ scout, I have witnessed first-hand the very intense rivalry between jr. A & B hockey in Ontario. Selfishly, I hope this situation is rectified sooner rather than later.
