3/17/26: MIN Prospect Benak Follows Great Development Path, Will Join WMU & its Ten NHL Picks Next Season

Minnesota Wild Prospect Adam Benak (2025 4th round, 102nd overall) will suit up for Western Michigan University next season. Benak’s relocation to Kalamazoo, Mich. this fall will be his third in three seasons. He competed in the USHL in 2024-25, and is playing in the OHL this season. Benak routinely was ranked as a second-round pick in his draft year, but fell to the Wild in the fourth round due to a lack of size (5’8″ 163 LBS.).

In 56 games for the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL two seasons ago, Benak compiled 59 points on 17 goals and 42 assists. His point and goal totals jumped this season with Brantford in the OHL, where he has amassed 70 points (26G 44A) in 45 games so far, and is on pace to finish with 28 goals. Brantford already has clinched a playoff berth, and actually leads Eastern Conference champ Barrie in wins.

When he suits up for the Broncos, Benak will join a team who was 2025’s national champion, has been ranked in the top five all season, and boasts ten NHL draft picks. Headed to another NCAA tournament berth, they will look to defend their title this spring.

Based upon the Czech native’s production thus far, he may very well end up being the steal of the 2025 draft.
