At this year’s NHL trade deadline, New York sent forward Brennan Othmann to Calgary in exchange for forward Jacob Battaglia. At the time, this deal was not a headliner, only a prospect swap. Thus far, Flint’s Battaglia is making the Rangers look very good in this transaction. He leads the OHL playoffs in scoring with 15 points, and sits in second place with five goals. This represents a return to the point production Battaglia experienced via a 90-point season (40G 50A) with Kingston in 2024-25. Until recently, his production dropped quite a bit, amassing only 48 points in 64 regular season games in 2026-27.
Meanwhile, Othmann has not scored a goal with AHL Calgary, although he does have 5 points for the Wranglers. He did manage to score a goal and add an assist in a two-game stint with the big club recently.
