The Ottawa Senators may have found a mid-round gem in 2025 4th-rounder Lucas Beckman. Beckman leads the QMJHL playoffs both in goals against average (1.00) & save percentage (.952). The Sagueneens used Beckman’s stellar play to dispose of Halifax in a first-round sweep, and are now pitted against Quebec in a second-round series. Game 1 of that series is tonight, and gives Beckman the opportunity to tie Newfoundland goalie Louis-Antoine Denault (free agent) for most playoff wins in the league.
For Beckman, his performance in the playoffs is a mere continuation of his regular season play. Coming over from a struggling Baie-Comeau Drakkar squad during the season, he posted a 13-1-0 record and a .940 save percentage for Chicoutimi.
