Anaheim signed 15th overall pick Nikita Klepov to a three-year entry-level contract today, ending Klepov’s eligibility to play college hockey for Michigan State University. He had committed to join the Spartans for 2026-27.
The move signals a probable return to Klepov’s junior club, the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit. Because Klepov is 18 years of age, and will not turn 19 until next June, he is not eligible to compete in the AHL. However, Ducks’ General Manager Pat Verbeek has stated that Klepov’s skill level is fitting for an aggressive development path. Therefore, it does appear Klepov will be given the opportunity to make the Ducks’ roster out of training camp.
