The San Jose Sharks announced a five-year, $94 million ($18.8 million AAV) extension for center Macklin Celebrini today, beginning in 2027-28. The average annual value of Celebrini’s extension is the highest in NHL history, surpassing the $18 million annual salary of Anaheim forward Leo Carlsson.
Celebrini shattered team records with 45 goals and 115 points in his second professional season, was a finalist for the Ted Lindsay Award (NHL’s best player voted on by the players’ union), and the International Ice Hockey Federation’s Player of the Year.
