Below is the link to the fully updated top-10 prospect list for the Minnesota Wild. The top-ranked prospect in this pool is power forward Charlie Stramel (21st overall in 2023), who appears ready to make the leap from college hockey to the Wild in assisting their efforts toward a push for the Stanley Cup. Despite the recent dip in the overall depth of Minnesota’s prospect pool, there remains much high-end talent at or near the top of this pool.
In addition to the forwards poised to arrive in Minnesota this season and beyond, the first thing jumping out to me when preparing this ranking is the drafting and immediate signing of goaltender Filip Ruzicka (137th overall). It is a rarity for a player chosen outside of the first round to be offered an entry-level contract directly following his selection, but the massive Czech (6’8″ 229) fits the bill. Although Ruzicka is projected to return to Brandon of the WHL to begin the season, he is set up to receive a look at the professional level in 2026-27, most likely in Iowa of the AHL.
With respect to the forward prospects of the Wild, both Stramel and Hunter Haight (47th overall in 2022) are expected to compete for opening night roster spots in Minnesota this season. Both players are praised for their reliable and heavy two-way games, traits which are essential for depth forwards to possess in helping their teams achieve deep playoff runs. They also have the ability to provide much-needed secondary scoring at the NHL level, as shown by Stramel’s 25 goals a season ago at Michigan State, as well as Haight’s 18 tallies in just 54 games in Iowa in 2025-26 (Haight had another goal last season in a 9-game NHL stint).
On the defensive side of the puck is NHL-ready prospect David Spacek (153rd overall in 2022), the son of former long-time NHL player Jaroslav Spacek. Yet another prospect lauded for his strong two-way play and defensive awareness, Spacek will provide a nice piece to complement the elite offensive capabilities of Quinn Hughes, Brock Faber and company.
