3/12/26: Top Draft Prospect Stenberg’s Scoring Dip Ends Chase for NHL Great’s Record

NHL Hall of Famer Daniel Sedin’s SHL record appears safe. Sedin’s mark for most points totaled by a draft-eligible player in Sweden’s top pro league is 42, which he set in 1998-99.

For most of this season, draft-eligible prospect Ivar Stenberg (#1 prospect among International skaters, per NHL Central Scouting) remained on pace to break this record. However, Stenberg’s recent scoring drought appears to put that mark out of reach. Stenberg has not registered a point in his last five games, and has just 3 points in his last ten contests. As a consequence, Stenberg has 32 points (11G 21A) on the season, and must record eleven points in Frolunda HC’s final two contests to break Sedin’s record.

Based upon Stenberg’s scoring rate, he is projected to finish with 34 points, good for a fourth-place tie for this mark. Currently 5th all-time, should he attain this projected rate he will take his place alongside Daniel Sedin’s twin brother and fellow HOF’er Henrik. This is still excellent company, worthy of a top prospect.
