The WHL’s Penticton Vees (formerly of the British Columbia Hockey League) are set to enjoy their first league playoff appearance, after a second-place finish in the Western Conference. Penticton is led in scoring by New York Islanders forward prospect Jacob Kvasnicka (2025 7th round, 202nd overall), who had 85 points (35G 50A) in 65 games for the Vees during the regular season. A low Islanders pick just last summer, Kvasnicka has shot up the depth chart with his performance this season. This further solidifies the exceptional draft the Isles had in 2025, and not just in the early rounds. Penticton’s first-round opponent is Seattle, and that series will commence tomorrow in BC.
Also, the Boston Bruins remain open to the possibility of prospect Dean Letourneau (2024 1st round, 25th overall) signing with the team this season. Although the expectation remains his returning to Boston College for his junior season, GM Don Sweeney wouldn’t close the door on making him a Bruin this spring. Although much attention has been paid to BC teammate James Hagens potentially joining the Bruins for the stretch run, Letourneau enjoyed an excellent season for the Eagles as well. Letourneau finished second on the team, behind Hagens, both in goals (22) and total points (39).
