4/1/26: Martone (PHI) Debut is a Mixed Bag; Frondell (CHI) Scores First NHL Goal; Bruins not Rushing Development of Hagens (BOS)

Philadelphia prospect Porter Martone (2025 1st round, 6th overall) debuted with the Flyers on Tuesday, and experienced mix results. Although the Flyers lost 6-4 to Washington, Martone led his new team with five shots on goal. Martone will be seeking his first NHL point tomorrow night when Philly takes on Detroit at home.

Anton Frondell (CHI 2025 first round, 3rd overall) scored his first NHL goal in a 4-3 overtime loss to Winnipeg last night. The goal was his fifth point in his first five games, joining Artemi Panarin and Henri Jokiharju as the 3rd Hawks player in the last 15 years to have 5 points in his first 5 games.

Boston is not in a rush to bring James Hagens (2025 1st round, 7th overall) into its lineup, although it will happen sooner rather than later. Hagens’ development is coming along very well in Providence (1 goal and 1 assist in 3 games), so it comes down to whether Hagens is needed for a playoff push. With the Bruins rolling at the NHL level and showing no signs of slowing down (8 points in their last 5 games), that does not appear to be the case either.
