4/7/26: SJS Prospect Ravensbergen (WHL Prince George) Set for Cougars’ Playoff Run This Spring; Will Lead Michigan State University Retool in 2026-27

San Jose goaltending prospect Joshua Ravensbergen has helped guide Prince George to the second round of the 2025-26 WHL playoffs versus Penticton. Ravensbergen is 4-1-1 to start the playoffs, and sports a .918 save percentage. Once the Cougars season is concluded, he will head to East Lansing, MI to headline a retooled roster for Michigan State University in 2026-27.

A number of NHL prospects at MSU have left the school this spring, with remaining college eligibility. Those prospects include goaltender Trey Augustine (DET), forward Porter Martone (PHI) & d-men Colin Ralph (STL) & Maxim Strbak (BUF). However, the Spartans are also loading up with high-quality recruits, first among them first-round pick Ravensbergen. The 6’5″ goaltender, who led the WHL regular season with a .919 save percentage, will take Augustine’s place between the pipes. That makes him the most important Spartans’ recruit, as Augustine has been MSU’s backbone for the past three seasons.

In his future role as the new Spartan goaltender, Ravensbergen will soon become rivals with the University of Michigan’s Jack Ivankovic (NSH). However, they will be forced to put their swords away over the winter break, as the two netminders most likely will be teammates on Team Canada’s World Junior Team.
