4/15/26: PHI Prospects Martone & Bonk Make Big Splashes Early

Rookies around the NHL are making significant contributions to their respective teams, making general managers look like geniuses. Perhaps nowhere is that more accurate than in Philadelphia right now, where forward Porter Martone and d-man Oliver Bonk are the Flyers’ prospects on everyone’s minds.

Martone (the #2 ranked preseason Philly prospect per NHL Central Scouting) is averaging over a point per game through nine contests with the Flyers, with 10 points on 4 goals and 6 assists. This comes directly after his one college season at Michigan State University. He registered 50 points (25G 25A) in 35 games for the Spartans in 2025-26, and was named the NCAA’s rookie of the year by The College Hockey News. Martone also has been the Flyers’ shots on goal leader on multiple occasions, using his size and strength to average nearly four shots per game, most from high-danger areas.

In his debut last night, Bonk (#4 preseason Philly prospect) recorded two points on a goal and an assist. With his goal, in the Flyers’ 4-2 win over Montreal, Bonk became the first Philadelphia d-man to score in his debut. Also, he assisted on the first goal of the game, scored by none other than Martone. Bonk is just the third Flyers’ d-man to record multiple points in his debut.

Martone appears to be in Philadelphia to stay this season. However, Bonk was re-assigned following last night’s game to Lehigh Valley to assist the Phantoms in their playoff push. He remains a call-up option for the Flyers this post-season. His projected full-time arrival is 2026-27.
