4/21/26: Barrie & Brantford Use Very Similar Formulas to Reach OHL Eastern Conference Final

The Barrie Colts and Brampton Bulldogs will face off against one another largely due to the production of their top two-way pivots, as well as the superb goaltending each team is receiving. For Barrie, that involves the high-scoring Cole Beaudoin (UTA) and 2026 draft goalie prospect Ben Hrebik. Beaudoin leads the OHL in playoff points with 23, and assists with 16. Also, Beaudoin repeatedly has set the scoring tone for the Colts in the post-season, as shown by his 4 opening tallies for Barrie. He is tied for the league lead in this category with Kitchener’s Sam O’Reilly (TBL).

The ultimate complement to Beaudoin’s scoring frenzy is Hrebik, who is taking care of things on the back end with a sterling .923 save percentage. Hrebik’s save percentage is identical to that of Brampton’s Ryerson Leenders (BUF), which is good for fourth in the league. Leading the charge up front for the Bulldogs is another ultra-talented two-way pivot, highly-rated draft prospect Caleb Malhotra (6th-ranked North American skater for 2026 draft). Malhotra has 13 points, as well as a second-best 8 goals. His 5 power-play goals are tops in the league.

However, neither team relies solely on one player up front. Barrie forward Emil Hemming (DAL) is tied for third in league scoring with 17 points (8G 9A), while Brantford forward Jake O’Brien (SEA) is third in league assists with 12.
