4/23/26: Stenberg & Bjorck Named to Sweden’s World Championship Preliminary Roster; No Word Yet on Canada’s or USA’s Roster

Top forward draft prospects Ivar Stenberg (#1 international skater) and Viggo Bjorck (#4) each have been named to Sweden’s preliminary roster for next month’s World Championship in Switzerland. Neither player is participating in the ongoing U18 World Junior Championship. Stenberg is an ’07 birth year, and thus has aged out of this tournament. Bjorck is eligible for this tournament, yet scheduling demands dictate that he is not available.

World championship rosters have not been announced for Teams Canada or USA. The leading amateur candidates for their rosters presumably are Canada’s Gavin McKenna (#1 North American skater) and the US’s Max Plante (2026 Hobey Baker winner). However, with respect to McKenna, the last day of the worlds coincides with the first day of the scouting combine, so that may leave him off the list.
