7/14/26: N. Robertson Signs with Pens After Trade From Toronto; J. Robertson Still in Arbitration With Stars

One-half of the Robertson brother duo has reached a deal with his NHL team. Today forward Nicholas Robertson, who was traded by Toronto to Pittsburgh on July 1 in exchange for a 4th round pick in 2028, reached a 2-year deal with the Pens with an annual cap hit of $3.25 million. Robertson filed for arbitration on July 5, but the parties’ agreement makes their July 28 hearing unnecessary.

Meanwhile, the arbitration case of Dallas forward Jason Robertson, the older brother of Nicholas, remains pending. Should Robertson and the Stars not reach terms on a new deal, the case will proceed to a July 25 hearing. In prior negotiations, Dallas reportedly offered the elder Robertson a contract having an average annual value of $12 million. However, Robertson seeks a deal in the range of $14 to $15 million. To satisfy this demand, the Stars previously agreed to trade him to Seattle (who offered an eight-year deal worth $15 million annually), but Robertson nixed the deal.
