In April, Hockey Canada tapped London’s Misha Donskov as Head Coach of Canada’s 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship Team in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta. Recently, it was announced his assistant coaches will be Drew Bannister (OHL’s Soo Greyhounds), Jim Hulton (QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs), Brad Lauer (WHL’s Spokane Chiefs), and Stanley Cup Champion Ryan Getzlaf. Dan De Palma (WHL’s Kamloops Blazers) returns as goaltending coach.
Also in April, USA Hockey appointed Michigan State University head coach Adam Nightingale as the Head Coach of the United States’ 2027 World Junior Team. He will be joined by assistant coaches Dan Bylsma (former NHL Head Coach), Tom Ward (Shattuck St. Mary’s), and Jared DeMichiel (Michigan State University Assistant Coach). Additionally, USA Hockey’s David Lassonde will serve as the team’s goaltending coach, with Brent Darnell (Boston College) and Nick Siergiej (Notre Dame) serving as video coaches.
