All of my updates to the top 10 prospects in Colorado’s prospect pool are completed. Below is a link to that ranking. Last year’s 2nd-ranked prospect, forward Gavin Brindley, spent the majority of the 2025-26 season with the Avs, and is projected to be with the big club from the start of the upcoming season. Therefore, he is no longer listed as a prospect. Last year’s top ranking belonged to d-man Mikhail Gulyayev, and he remains in the #1 position this season. The 21-year-old will continue his development in the KHL in 2026-27.
After an extended period of time competing for a Stanley Cup every season, Colorado’s prospect pool is fairly depleted. However, they continue to draft well and build for the future. This year was no different with the additions of forward prospects Egor Shilov (43rd overall) and Beckett Hamilton (74th overall). Shilov led all QMJHL rookies in scoring last season (82 points [32G 50A] in 63 games), while Hamilton led his WHL club (Red Deer) in that category as well (62 points [24G 38A] in 67 games). Adding that firepower to soon-to-be NHL players on the back end in d-man Sean Behrens (61st overall in 2021) and goaltender Ilya Nabokov (38th overall in 2024), the Avs’ outlook lies in good hands.
