My link to the 2026 Edmonton Oilers’ top-10 prospect is attached below. As alluded to in the title, German forwards Josh Samanski (2024 Free Agent signing) and David Lewandowski (117th overall in 2025) both grace this list, with Samanski being the Oilers’ #1 prospect. He is expected to log significant time this season in Edmonton, although projected to start in AHL Bakersfield. The 19-year-old Lewandowski will continue his development at Saskatoon of the WHL this season, as he looks to join Samanski and German hockey icon Leon Draisaitl in the future.
Also near the top is 2025 Free Agent forward signee Quinn Hutson, the older brother of Lane (MTL) and Cole (WSH). Like Samanski, Hutson most likely will start in Bakersfield, where he is projected to remain for most of the season prior to his Edmonton arrival in 2027-28.
Joining the above forward group in Bakersfield this season is a crowded goaltender group led by prospects Connor Ungar (2024 Free Agent signing) and Samuel Jonsson (158th overall in 2022). While both Ungar and Jonsson both are considered future solid NHL goaltenders, perhaps even Edmonton’s goaltending tandem of the future, they may split the season between the ECHL and AHL levels due to a lack of available playing time in Bakersfield.
