In a statement from his agent, Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellybuyck revealed he privately asked the Jets for a trade months ago, believing it’s best for him and his family. Although there is no reported progress, the Jets did acknowledge his request through GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. Cheveldayoff praised Hellebuyck’s numerous contributions to the organization (his efforts have resulted in three Vezina Trohies, a Hart Trophy, and an Olympic gold medal). Hellebuyck expressed thanks to fans and the Jets’ organization, and further stated that he’s open to waiving his no-move clause to assist in a deal should one be made.
