When you hear about Detroit goaltending prospects, the conversation is likely to be centered around Trey Augustine & Sebastian Cossa. They are without question excellent young players, but the much less frequently-mentioned Rudy Guimond has quietly had a most impressive stint in the QMJHL.
Since his arrival in Moncton partially through last season, Guimond has done nothing but put up spectacular numbers between the pipes. In 2024-25, Guimond posted a 16-0-0 record to go along with a .940 save percentage. He followed up that performance by appearing in 50 regular season games in 2025-26, compiling a record of 40-7-3 and a .922 save percentage.
As sterling as his regular season numbers are, Guimond has proven himself to be a clutch playoff performer as well. This was shown last season by his 8-1-0 record and .916 save percentage in Moncton’s league championship run in 2024-25. Fast forward to this post-season, where Guimond has posted a perfect 4-0-0 record and.940 save percentage.
Moncton has advanced to the second round of the playoffs by virtue of its 4-game sweep of Saint John. The Wildcats await their next opponent as the remaining rounds reach their conclusion.
