The Red Wings have signed former Boston forward Viktor Arvidsson to a 2-year, $10 million ($5 million AAV) contract, set to begin in 2026-27. Last season for the Bruins, the 33-year-old right-shot winger registered 54 points (25G 29A).
As I touched upon recently, when Boston couldn’t reach terms with Arvidsson on a new deal, it traded for former Utah forward JJ Peterka as his replacement. Utah then traded one of the draft picks it received in the Peterka deal to Detroit, which in turn used that pick to select forward JP Hurlbert. Therefore, early in this off-season Detroit has scored a current top-6 forward and a top prospect through Boston, albeit indirectly.
