4/9/26: Minnesota Wild Sign Stramel (MSU) & Gustafsson Nyberg (UConn) to Entry-Level Contracts

Upon the conclusion of their respective college seasons, forward prospect Charlie Stramel and d-man prospect Viking Gustafsson Nyberg each have signed entry-level contracts with Minnesota. Stramel’s deal is for three years and commences in the 2026-27 season, and carries with it a per annum cap hit of $1,075,000. Gustafsson Nyberg is on a 2-year deal commencing with the current season, and it has a per annum cap hit of $975,000.

A 2023 first-round pick, Stramel is coming off an excellent season with the Spartans. He totaled 44 points (19G 25A) on his way to being named a top 10 candidate for the Hobey Baker Award. Currently, he is sidelined with a broken ankle suffered in Michigan State’s NCAA tournament loss versus the University of Wisconsin.

Prior to signing his entry-level deal with the Wild, Gustafsson Nyberg, who is an undrafted free agent, was playing for Iowa in the AHL on an amateur tryout agreement, where he tallied one assist in two games. A huge (6’6″) shot-blocking machine, he will join the Wild immediately for their 2025-26 stretch run.
