Vancouver forward prospect Riley Patterson will compete for Abbotsford in the AHL in the near future. The Canucks re-assigned Patterson to their top affiliate following Niagara’s defeat by Barrie in the first round of the OHL playoffs. The IceDogs were beaten by the Colts in 5 games despite Patterson’s 8 points (4G 4A) in that series.
Patterson was a fourth-round pick in 2024, but since then has become one of Vancouver’s top prospects with his stellar play. To that end, The Hockey News’ Future Watch recently ranked as the Canucks’ 7th-best prospect. He was the IceDogs’ leading scorer this season by a wide margin, totaling 84 points and 40 goals. Patterson signed an entry-level contract in September, and is slated to be part of Abbotsford’s lineup for the remainder of this season.
