Youth was definitely served on Tuesday night in the NHL. Both Jake Livanavage (PIT) and Victor Eklund (NYI) made their NHL debuts, with Eklund assisting on the Isles’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Carolina. Livanavage’s new teammate, Pittsburgh forward prospect Rutger McGroarty, scored the Penguins’ first goal off an O zone faceoff, his first with the big club since December 23.
Livanavage’s debut was overshadowed by the performance of budding young star Jimmy Snuggerud (STL). Snuggerud enjoyed a 4-point evening (2G 2A), helping the Blues overcome an early 3-0 deficit to prevail 7-5. He now has 50 points (21G 29A), making him just the fourth rookie this season to achieve that mark.
