5/15/26: Numerous Increases Coming in 2026-27 NHL Salary Structures

Attached is a link to a puckpedia.com discussing the impending increase to the minimum player salary, and its effects on each team’s cap hit. The minimum salary for 2026-27 is $850,000, up from $775,000 for the prior three seasons. This change affects the cap hits of most NHL teams, as shown in the subsection of the attachment entitled “Total Salary Changes by Team.” The revised cap hits for each team already is reflected on the Puckpedia website.

The other primary changes to the 2026-27 NHL compensation structure are the increase in both the salary cap and entry-level contract maximums. The salary cap will be increased to $104 million per team, with a simultaneous increase to the salary floor of $76,900,000. In 2025-26, the salary cap was at $95.5 million, and the floor was $70.6 million.

Entry-level contracts for players drafted in 2026 will increase to $1 million, up from $975,000 for players drafted in 2024 and 2025. The minimum salary of $850,000, as detailed above, applies to ELC’s as well.
