5/17/26: NHL Player/Prospect Standouts at 2026 World Championship

Team USA forward Isaac Howard (EDM) had the most recent outstanding performance among the numerous NHL players and prospects at the World Championship in Zurich. Howard registered two goals, including the game-winner, in a 5-1 victory over Great Britain. This victory was a nice bounce-back win for the Americans, who suffered a tournament-opening 3-1 loss to host country Switzerland.

Team Canada forward and captain Macklin Celebrini (SJS) had an impressive three-point effort (2G 1A) in a 6-0 Team Canada win over Italy. His three points have him in a 4-way tie for 5th in scoring, trailing Team Finland’s former NHL forward Jesse Pulijarvi (3G 2A) for the tournament lead. Celebrini is tied in scoring with teammates Ryan O’Reilly (NSH), Dylan Holloway (STL), and John Tavares (TOR).

Team Sweden’s top line, consisting of Lucas Raymond (DET) and draft prospects Ivar Stenberg and Viggo Bjorck, combined for seven points in a 6-2 victory over Denmark. Raymond registered three points (1G 2A), and the young guns added two apiece (1G 1A for Bjorck, 2A for Stenberg). Bjorck is the youngest Swede ever to score a WC goal (18 years, 66 days).
