I have attached two different 2027 mock draft rankings. The first attachment, published by BCHL scout Dylan Robillard, contains first round projections only. The second attachment is a more comprehensive list of draft prospects published by Elite Prospects. I have also included a third attachment, which is an article from Senior Draft Writer Mike Morreale of the nhl.com discussing in detail the top 2027 draft prospects. Although many of the same prospect names are contained in each of these reports, they all have different insights on what is likely to come next summer.
What these three reports all agree upon is that former Everett Silvertips (WHL) d-man and current University of Michigan commit Landon DuPont is the favorite to be taken with the first overall pick. DuPont currently occupies the top spot after posting 73 points (18G 55A) in 63 games, as well as a +59 player rating. In a draft deep with talent, particularly at the center position, it comes as no surprise that Saint John (QMJHL) pivot Alexis Joseph most likely will be DuPont’s biggest threat to go first overall. The 6’5″ Joseph amassed 60 points (24G 36A) in 54 games as a 17-year-old for the Sea Dogs, who are structuring their rebuild around him.
In addition to the first overall discussion, a name we will be hearing a lot is winger Dima Zhilkin of Saginaw in the OHL. The Spirit captain and leader registered 75 points (36G 39A) in 59 regular-season games, and has a reputation among coaches and teammates as a tireless worker to go along with his “dog on a bone” mentality. He further enhanced this reputation for Team Canada at the U18 World Junior Championship, where he produced 7 points (5G 2A) in 5 games and was lauded for his relentless puck pursuit.
My personal favorites, who appear in these reports as mid-first-rounders, are d-man Brock Cripps of Prince Albert (WHL) and forward Timothy Kazda of the USHL’s Chicago Steel. Cripps registered 37 regular-season points (6G 31A) in 62 games, then averaged over a point-per-game in the playoffs (21 points in 20 games) in helping lead the Raiders to the WHL championship series against Everett. When I watched him at the U17 World Challenge for tournament champ Canada Red, I came away impressed with Cripps’ elite vision and puck-moving skills.
Kazda followed up an excellent season in Chicago (41 points in 59 games) by producing 12 points (6G 6A) in 7 games for Slovakia at the U18 World Junior Championship. He will compete for the Steel next season prior to attending Boston College in the fall of 2027.
