The updates to my New Jersey Devils’ top-10 prospect rankings are complete, which you can view by clicking on the link below. Massive Russian d-man Anton Silayev (10th overall in 2024) remains the Devils’ top prospect, and is on track to arrive in New Jersey this season following a possible stint in Utica of the AHL.
Also among New Jersey’s top 5 prospects are d-man Seamus Casey (46th overall in 2022) and goaltender Mikhail Yegorov (49th overall in 2024). Highly-skilled playmaker Casey saw his fast track to the NHL derailed somewhat in 2025-26, after a lower-body injury cost him 43 games. Reports are that he is fully recovered and ready to begin the season on time, and he looks to become a permanent fixture on the New Jersey blue-line this season. With respect to Yegorov, he saw his still-solid numbers slip a bit as his Boston University team went from national runners-up in 2024-25 to missing the NCAA playoffs a season ago. With the exceptional recruiting job BU has done this off-season, look for a return to prominence by Yegorov and the Terriers.
In addition to Silayev and Casey, multiple other New Jersey prospects appear ready to occupy an NHL roster spot this season. Near the top of that list is Finnish forward Lenni Hameenaho (58th overall in 2022), who looks to contribute his elite hockey IQ to the Devils’ success on a full-time basis. Other potential NHL arrivals this season are two-way pivot Shane LaChance (186th overall in 2020 by EDM) and exceptional skating d-man Topias Vilen (129th overall in 2021).
